The Research
Shaykh Dr Abdullah Alkadi’s ground-breaking research has never before been recorded in Islam’s history, and is a great gift to the Ummah.

Shaykh Abdullah was born into a scholarly family from Ahsa, eastern Arabia, where he studied the traditional Islamic sciences with classically trained scholars with an unbroken chain, including from Shaykh Ahmad Ad-Dughan rahmatullah alayh. Shaykh Abdullah is a hafidh of the Quran, a faqih in the Shafi’i school and an expert in inheritance law. He completed his PhD in Urban Planning from Portland State University, Oregon. He is also an architect and historian, authoring numerous books and articles on early Islamic history and civilization with a focus on the Hijaz. He is an authority on the Hijrah route, the places of Qur’anic revelation, and the way of the previous Prophets & Messengers, upon them be peace.
He has spent most of his adult life studying and researching in the field and retracing, with immense accuracy, the blessed footsteps of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from the Qur’an, ahadith and the Seerah. His knowledge of GIS, GPS and spatial science, coupled with his deep study of the Quran, Prophetic history, seerah, and the Arabian topography is a great gift and a service to this ummah.

Shaykh Abdullah’s pioneering research on the various travel routes of the Prophet Mohammed ﷺ and his Companions has been praised internationally.
For many years, the research needed to be conducted under confidentiality. From utilising primary references, scholarly works, geographical landmarks and GPS systems, Shaykh Abdullah painstakingly landmarked locations of Quranic revelation and Islamic history, including the Prophetic hijrah, covering thousands of kilometres over 20 years.His books “Makkah to Medina: A Photographic Journey of the Hijrah Route” and “Milestones of Arabia” are widely considered as classics despite contemporary publications in Islamic history. Since 2013, the Shaykh has worked on the Hislo app to preserve Islamic history of Arabia digitally, and connect us, the greater ummah, to the beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

The Shama’il al Muhammadiyya of Imam at-Tirmidhi
The Shama’il is a book of love.
It reifies the Prophetic reality for every generation.
This collection of hadith provides to the general audience an opportunity to listen and understand the Sahaba’s narrations about Prophet ﷺ with an unbroken chain, connecting us back to the Beloved ﷺ.

The Shama’il is a collection of hadith compiled by the 9th century scholar Imam at-Tirmidhi, that connects us to Prophet Muhammad, presenting him through the eyes of contemporaries who comment not only on his spiritual demeanour and qualities, but also on his beautiful physical appearance and manners, including his hairdressing, his sitting posture, his sandals and turban, his armour, his favourite condiments and food, and his perfectly-balanced light heartedness.

Prophetology or the sciences of Prophetic study in Islam, entails a number of disciplines related to the beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
These include the:
- Seerah (prophetic biography),
- Shama’il (prophetic features and characteristics),
- Dala’il (proofs of nubuwwa or prophecy),
- Fada’il (prophetic excellence and superiority),
- Khasa’is (prophetic uniqueness and exclusive quality), and among others,
- Qasa’id (poetry and odes in venerating the Prophet).
There is, of course, an entire genre of Hadith studies (prophetic speech, actions, and tacit approvals) with its own unique methodological soundness, critical and rigorousness epistemology, biographical criticism of narrators, and classification or categorisation.
All such works are compiled to understand the truth of the Prophetic message, and are truly receptacles of love through its pages, to bring us closer to the Beloved Prophet (s).
